About Us
Clandela is a family run company, dedicated to excellence in quality and service, and is totally orientated towards our client’s needs.
David and Cláirín started the business in 1977, first specialising in sterling silver charms. Over the years they diversified, and David sold a wide variety of silver and gold jewellery, watch straps, pens and silverware. He was well known as ‘the locket man’, selling to jewellers and quality gift shops throughout the island of Ireland.
In the early 90’s Cláirín recognised a need to expand our religious jewellery collection. Both David and Cláirín are devote Catholics and it made sense to use their depth of knowledge and faith to develop a genuinely Catholic centric collection which resulted in establishing ‘Precious Prayers’. Against all odds the demand for spiritual and faith focused jewellery was on the increase, it is still one of the core pillars of our business.
Suzanne joined Clandela full time in 2019 and quickly focused on improving systems, barcoding product and building a trade website. This approach gives customers a much more cohesive experience, with easy in-person orders from David, no more time-consuming handwritten orders, allowing customers to quickly return to their shop floor. Re-ordering is also much easier now, with online orders increasing each year.
Since the beginning we have sourced much of our jewellery in Europe. However, wanting to support local talent and businesses, we changed direction, redesigning many pieces, and we now manufacture a large amount of our jewellery in Ireland. Even our favourite sweets are now Lily O'Brien rather than Lindt! Our ‘Precious Ireland’ collection reflects these changes, with many new ideas still to come... watch this space 😉
As the business continued to grow, Amy and Jean joined the fold. Ensuring quick order turnaround times and lively coffee breaks! Maggie keeps us smiling through the summer months, and Joan, our newest team-member adores all the bling and loves to see everything from our customers point of view.

Our name
You might be wondering why the name ‘Clandela’, well, when David and Cláirín were seeking a name for their new enterprise they came up the idea of mixing of their surnames 'Clancy' and 'de Lacy', both dropping the 'cy' at the end of their names resulting in the name ‘Clandela’. How cute!

Precious Prayers is our range of Christian religious jewellery with a comprehensive selection of Patron Saints, First Holy Communion and Confirmation gifts. We are known to have the largest selection of St Christopher and Miraculous Medals in Europe! Branded boxes available, along with a compact shop window display, we also have a printed brochure available for this range.
Precious Ireland is our range of beautiful Sterling Silver and gold Irish made jewellery featuring Celtic pendants with earrings to match. Our collections include Claddaghs, Trinity knots, Shamrocks, Celtic knots, Harps and Irish sport motifs. Precious Ireland branded boxes and neat shop displays are available.
Amélie Bijoux is our 18ct Gold plated collection of quality stylish fashion led jewellery that has proven very popular with jewellers throughout Ireland. Branded boxes and shop displays are available.
